The Aims of the School

At Sandhurst Junior School we aim to provide a friendly and stimulating environment in which our students are able to develop all of their skills and abilities to the highest standard. Our intention is to develop self-discipline and awareness of socially acceptable behaviour. Each of the children is treated as an individual and every effort is made to suit their needs. Help is given to any child with specific difficulties.

Our aims are:

  • To provide a calm, happy, stimulating and purposeful environment in which children can learn effectively.

  • To help pupils develop lively, creative and enquiring minds with the ability to question, reason rationally and adopt a positive attitude towards learning.

  • To help pupils develop sensitivity towards and respect for the cultural and spiritual experience of themselves and others.

  • To provide a clear curriculum framework for all our children and to monitor each child's achievement within that curriculum.

  • To encourage the partnership of parents/carers with the school in the education of their children.

  • To help the children achieve an understanding of the world in which they live and appreciate the richness and diversity of our community.

  • To enable the children to acquire the concepts, knowledge, skills and attitudes which will help them to be personally enriched, to contribute to, and be adaptable in a changing world.

  • To develop the appreciation of human achievements in the fields of art, music, literature, mathematics, science and technology.

  • To provide equality of opportunity.

  • To maintain the school as a caring community in which each individual is given every opportunity to make a valuable contribution.
