PASS 2007 Parents At Sandhurst School
All parents are members of PASS and are very welcome at any of our meetings and events. We are always looking for new ideas and appreciate a helping hand. Keep a look-out in Sandpaper for dates of meetings and events.
The past year has been a successful one for PASS, here are some of the notable moments.
The International Evening Quiz Night
Cake Sales Barbecue
Y6 Disco Y6 Year Book
Adult Choir Learning Gardens
Pantomime Table Sale
In November everyone had a great time at the International evening, parents and staff contributed fabulous (and healthy) food from around the world, we were very well fed indeed before we went on to be treated to some talented performances and a colourful display of world dress. The adult choir were exceptional even with very little rehersal!
A great achievement for the school this year has been the completion of the ¡®Learning Gardens¡¯ and this could not have been done without the help of PASS! Early in the spring term PASS match funded £2000 with funds from the school which meant £4000 could be spent on more planters and completing fences. Then the Chair, Elaine Fordy, applied for Lottery Funding of £10,000 and was successful! Over the summer Elaine project managed the completion of the gardens.
Parents and children had a great evening at the Summer Barbecue. It was touch and go with the weather all day and were relieved that the decision to go ahead was the right one. There was music from the steel pans group and a bouncy castle for the children, but mostly people just enjoyed a sociable evening with friends.
For the second year PASS really contributed to a great send off for the Y6 leavers. A group of Y6 parents with guidance from regular committee members got things off the ground. The children had a great evening event, with entertainment from ¡®Taylormade disco¡¯ and a little from the staff! Parents provide a buffet meal and the children really put on the style for the evening and had a wonderful time.
They were also given a lasting memento of their time at Sandhurst Juniors in the form of a year book with a photograph of each of the children and their teachers with an individual comment from everyone. The year book was funded and organised by PASS with admin assistance from Ms Merriman and the class teachers.
¡¡ ¡¡ ¡¡ PASS Autumn 2006
This term PASS have used some of their funds to make and buy ¡®Story sacks¡¯ for the school. Story sacks are made up of items relating to story books to help the children to retell and develop the story. One sack that was made up was for the story of ¡®Little Red Riding Hood¡¯ and contained the book and soft toys of the characters from the story. A bought sack was for the book ¡®Little Moon¡¯ and one of the items it contained was a ¡®soft¡¯ map of the universe.
We are hoping to build a substantial library of story sacks if you can help either with ideas or making toys please contact your class teacher, a member of the PASS committee or the school office.
International Evening 2006
On November 15th we held our second International evening. Everyone had a brilliant time. We tasted some wonderful food from around the world prepared by families, the ¡®Sandhurst Vegetable Goulash¡¯ made by some of the children and Ms Koser-Hall was very popular. Once again we were delighted by the variety of international dress presented in the fashion show. We were entertained by children and parents and had a preview of the programme of song and steel pans music to be presented at the St Dunstan¡¯s International evening.
The adult choir made their second appearance with obvious enjoyment. We look forward to their future!
Jubilee books attended the evening selling a range of multicultural children¡¯s books.
Thanks go to everyone who worked hard to make the evening a success and to everyone who came and made it such an enjoyable evening.
Panto
The Next event will be the Christmas Panto. Look out for information coming soom. ¡¡ +++++++++++++ PASS Parents
At
Sandhurst
School
play a great part in the life of the school. Parents get together to plan
social and fundraising activities and to support school events. Since
September this academic year they have organised a cake sale, a great
multicultural evening and a family disco for Christmas. ¡¡ The
Family
Disco
was our
Christmas event and another great success. We tried out Salsa dancing;
some of us with more success than others and it was great fun. A
great evening that got us into the Christmas spirit. Fundraising Over
the years PASS have supported the school in
many ways. They have always supported school activities by helping with
hospitality for special events. Some
of the events for children that have been organised are the events to
celebrate national events and the school centenary in 2004 when we had
lots of events including a whole school picnic, an Edwardian School day
and a balloon race. PASS
have also paid for the purchase of computers, for theatre groups to
perform in school and for the purchase of playground equipment. ¡¡ |
