School Council

Sandhurst Junior School Council has two members from each class who were elected by their classmates

to represent the school community.

The School Council meets once a week to discuss ideas about making the school a better place.

In the past Sandhurst Junior School Council has achieved many things.

 These achievements include:

**   We won an environment award for our work on recycling **

** We contributed to a book called ‘Our Voices Count’ which told teachers to let children have more say**

** We visited other schools and invited them to visit Sandhurst to exchange ideas **

** We contributed to the school’s Anti-Bullying policy **

**  We worked on designs for the playground and toilets to make the school a nicer place **

** We began the work on Peer Mediation to help children resolve issues in the playground**

** We planned celebrations for Chinese New Year **

Sandhurst Junior School Council is currently working on lots different things:

We write a monthly newsletter to keep everyone informed about everything that is going on in School Council

We are investigating different ways to spend the environment award money

– maybe a solar powered clock for the playground

We are exploring how we can make and sell our own Sandhurst fruit smoothies.

We will be involved in electing peer mediators for the school.
